world cup soccer
i wondered if everyone else was as impressed with the italy / germany game as i was. i thought they both played well & the difference was a wonderful save by the italian keeper vs 2 late unstoppable shots by italy once everyone was tired & the field opened up. i'm looking forward to sunday's final & what i perceive as the stronger team of italy can stop the more singular brilliance of zidane. i didn't see yesterday's game but sounded like it wasn't as exciting & perhaps decided by yet another questionable call by a ref. if italy wins the u.s. can take some consolation in the fact that the would be the only team that italy played that italy didn't beat & they did that being a man down.

Chris,
Very insightful comments. The Deutschland game was exceptional despite its outcome. France & Italy - Euro 2000 all over again - think France in extra time. If France wins, Zidane will be elevated to Pele-like status (and deservedly so). The keys to this game - how does France handle Zambrotta and the left back coming forward? How does Italy score? It attacks out of the back (our team could learn from this). How will Pirlo and Gattuso handle Zidane and Viera? Should be a push...Watch Makelele shut down Totti...Camorenesi has to step up...Ribarry will shine in this match...
any insight in to zidane's loss of control? i would think there would have to be some history there for that. i was hoping italy would win but would have liked to have seen a score in extra time. buffon was amazing on that zidane header.
